Chaibora supports the staff at Children's homes,
helping them in their essential work of standing by and nurturing children.
What is a social care homes?
Across Japan, there are approximately 34,000 children living in Children's home for various reasons. Many of these children have grown up in environments marked by neglect, abuse, or unsuitable conditions.
One child lived in a room that had never been cleaned.
Another was repeatedly told, "I wish you were never born."
Others faced violence without understanding the reasons behind it.
These experiences have left some children unable to trust adults. As a result, some struggle with anxiety, causing sleepless nights, or exhibit behavioral issues at school.
The role of staff in Children's homes is to understand the past of these children, share the present with them, and build a brighter future together.

Issues of social care homes
However, Children's homes face a shortage of staff who can closely support and care for the daily lives of children. As a result, staff are unable to dedicate enough time to each child who has grown up in complex environments, leaving some children unable to feel adequate love and care.
Even in Children's homes where staffing is relatively sufficient, one staff member often oversees around eight children. In some Children's homes, there are even times when one staff member has to care for approximately twenty children of varying ages at once.

No matter how much dedication the staff may have, there are limits to what they can do for the children under such circumstances.
If only there were one more staff member...
When I go to bed with a child at night, I don't care about time.
I can take him where he wants to go when he wants to.
We can talk about the future with more time.
We, the NPO Chaibora, are working to solve these problems and create a society in which each and every child can be raised with great care.

VISION
Toward a society where each and every child can
be raised with great care.

In Children's homes, children who faced various challenges such as abuse and poverty live and grow. It is the staff who support these children closely, assisting them in their daily lives and on their path to independence.
Currently, many Children's homes are struggling with a shortage of staff. Under such circumstances, no matter how dedicated the staff may be, there are limits to what they can do for each individual child.
Chaibora works to connect people and Children's homes, striving to create a world where every child is lovingly and carefully nurtured.
MISSION
Increase the number of people working in social care homes
We are actively working across the country to connect individuals interested in pursuing careers at Children's homes with the Children's homes themselves. Through initiatives such as managing the comprehensive social care information website "Chabo Navi," hosting homes tours, and conducting outreach classes at educational institutions, we aim to promote the appeal of social care work and secure talented individuals to join these Children's homes.

Pursue a comfortable working environment for staff of social care homes
We aim to create a workplace environment where staff can find fulfillment and work for the long term. Through the online training program "Chabo Seminar," we provide one-year support for new hires and newly appointed staff. Additionally, we work to promote interaction among staff and assist in improving operational and personnel aspects.

Connecting supporters to social care homes and people in need
To provide diverse support to Children's homes, we connect corporations, organizations, and individual supporters with these Children's homes. Through awareness-raising activities, we aim to deepen understanding of social care and expand the network of support.

CORE VALUE
Chaibora aims to carry out activities that are truly essential for the best interests of children.
We face the core of the challenges head-on and continue to strive toward realizing our vision.
Support based on field understanding
Many of Chaibora staff members have experience working as Children's home employees, giving them a deep understanding of the real challenges faced on-site. Leveraging this experience, they carefully provide the support that Children's homes truly need.
Work cheerfully and positively
Social care faces serious challenges, but we Chaibora approach them with positivity and a smile. We are sometimes described as "the sunshine of social care," and we cherish this attitude in everything we do.
Challenge to solve essential issues
We focus on addressing the root causes of challenges in social care, keeping both the present and future of children in mind. Rather than surface-level "good ideas," we dedicate our efforts to initiatives that provide fundamental and meaningful solutions.
Chaibora's Activity

Human resources support
for social care homes
We engage in various activities nationwide, including operating the comprehensive social care information website "Chabo Navi," to help individuals interested in working at Children's homes connect with homes that suit them best.

Human Resources Support for Child Guidance Centers
To address challenges such as staff shortages and high turnover rates at child consultation centers, we launched the "Recruitment, Training, and Retention Support Program for Child Consultation Center Staff" in 2024.

Enlightenment and cooperation support
We aim to expand the circle of support and create an environment where children are supported by society as a whole. Through various awareness-raising initiatives and collaboration support projects, we connect Children's homes with support from corporations and other organizations.
Representative message

Haruka Oyama
"I want people, not things"
This word started everything.
During my time at Benesse Corporation, I once inquired about donating educational materials to a Children's home, only to be told, "What we need isn’t things, but people." Upon learning about the severe staff shortages at Children's homes, I felt compelled to act. I submitted my resignation, enrolled in a night school program to obtain a childcare worker qualification, and set my sights on becoming a home staff member.
While attending school, I witnessed classmates unable to connect with Children's homes due to a lack of information, ultimately choosing different career paths. This experience deepened my resolve to create a bridge that would connect individuals and Children's homes, and that determination led to the establishment of Chaibora .
I personally worked as a Children's home staff member for six years, during which I saw how profoundly staff presence impacts the emotional stability of children. Yet, hearing from the field about the difficulties of providing one-on-one care for every child, despite the best intentions, constantly reminded me of the magnitude of the challenges.
Chaibora aspires to be a bridge that connects Children's homes with many people, and we have expanded our activities nationwide. Each time we hear voices of joy and reports of positive changes from homes staff, we feel we are slowly but surely bringing about change in the industry.
However, our efforts alone have limitations. We ask for your support in spreading awareness about the current state of social care and expanding the circle of support. Until the day we realize a society where every child is cherished and nurtured, we will continue to push forward. We hope you will warmly support and encourage Chaibora on this journey.
Let us take the first step together to create a better future.

Why not support the future of children with Chaibora?
To achieve our vision, Chaibora provides daily support in recruiting and retaining social care home staff who care for children. However, Children's homes often struggle to allocate funds for publicity, and our activities are funded through donations and grants.
Will you join us in securing and supporting as many staff members as possible to create an environment where children can live with peace of mind?
